FWFSC skaters shine at Festival of STARS

From February 12 to 14, Fort William Figure Skating Club skaters competed at the Northern Ontario STARSkate qualifier in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario.  

 

Three FWFSC skaters qualified for the Ontario Trillium STARSkate in Kingston, Ontario March 14-15, 2010. 

 

Kaitlyn Groop won the Senior Silver Ladies Freeskate with a total of 33.05 points.  In addition, she is the alternate for the Gold Triathlon placing second with 81.40, only 3 points behind the winner.  Tori McQuat won the Senior Bronze Ladies Freeskate with a total of 22.77 points.  She was also the bronze medalist in the Bronze Triathlon with 69.95 points.  Also representing the Fort William Figure Skating Club in Kingston will be Chelsey Flewelling as the Junior Silver Ladies Freeskate bronze medalist with a total of 27.49 points.  Chelsey is also the bronze medalist in the Silver Triathlon with 72.72 points.  

 

Other skaters who competed in the event were Kaylie Zyla who placed third in the Gold Ladies Triathlon and fifth in the Junior Silver Ladies Freeskate; Taylor Stewardson who placed first in the Bronze Interpretive and fifth in the Bronze Ladies Triathlon and Shaeanne Flewelling who placed ninth in the Introductory Interpretive and thirty-fourth in the Junior Bronze Ladies Freeskate.

Skate Canada Northern Ontario announces that the FWFSC is a FIVE out of five star club in accordance with the Five Star Program. Congratulations to all of our members on this exceptional achievement.
